Tennessee has reportedly reached out to David Cutcliffe about its head coaching vacancy — and Cutcliffe isn’t interested.
ESPN’s Chris Low reported on Monday night that Cutcliffe is planning to finish out his coaching career at Duke.
As Low points out, Duke is bowl eligible for the fifth time in the past six years.
Perhaps Sunday’s events regarding the Greg Schiano fiasco had a lasting impact — or, maybe, Cutcliffe just isn’t ready to start over again.
Cutcliffe coached at Tennessee from 1982 through 1998. He held various roles, including the offensive coordinator job during the Volunteers’ most successful stretch in the 90s. He also returned to UT to coach the offense in 2006 and 2007 before taking over as the Blue Devils’ head coach.
Here’s the tweet Low sent out:
Tennessee has reached out to David Cutcliffe about the Vols’ head coaching job, but Cutcliffe informed UT officials that he wasn’t interested and plans to finish his coaching career at Duke. The Blue Devils are bowl eligible for the 5th time in the last 6 years.
