After a tumultuous offseason, it appears that defensive back J.C. Jackson’s time with the Florida Gators has come to an end.
According to a report from Scout.com’s Florida page, Jackson won’t return to the team after a decision from the University Athletic Association.
Jackson has had three separate off-field incidents since the season ended. Last month, he was arrested in connection with a felony armed robbery, although charges are expected to be dropped from that incident. He was grazed by a bullet in a drive-by shooting in December, and was also was in a car, along with Florida teammates Jalen Tabor and Treon Harris, that was pulled over for speeding and suspected of marijuana use. Jackson wasn’t charged in either of the latter two incidents.
A four-star recruit from Immokalee, Fla. in 2014, Jackson was recruited as a wide receiver and had potential to contribute on both offense and defense. He redshirted last season following shoulder surgery.
