Report: Former South Carolina LB Jonathan Walton signs with Saints

Published:
Ex-Gamecocks LB Jonathan Walton has signed a contract the New Orleans Saints.
Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate is reporting that Walton was signed due to a training camp injury. Last week, the Saints lost undrafted rookie Sae Tauta when he suffered an MCL sprain.
The Saints LB corps is a unit still looking for production and depth. LB Craig Robertson is the only returner from last season who had 40+ tackles. With only a few spots nailed down in New Orleans, Walton is in a position where anything is possible. He will need to make an impression in order to make the opening day roster, but the need is glaring for the Saints.
Walton appeared in 43 games over four seasons with the Gamecocks. He finished his senior season with 68 total tackles, 6.5 TFL, and 1.5 sacks with a forced fumble.
