Five-star quarterback and Georgia commit Jacob Eason took a mid-week official visit to Washington starting today, according to reports from The Seattle Times and Rivals.com.
Eason, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound pro-style passer from Lake Stevens, Washington, is no stranger to the campus at UW. He was a familiar face around the team during spring practices in 2014, according to the Times.
The visit to Washington comes on the heels of what’s expected to be his final official visit to Georgia this weekend. The recruiting “dead period” starts Monday and will extend through Christmas, which means that coaches cannot contact recruits (recruits can, however, call coaches whenever they like). Eason would like to have his decision made before the U.S. Army All-American Bowl practices begin. He will be a January enrollee at the school he chooses.
Eason has been committed to Georgia since July of 2014, but his commitment was put in question after Georgia fired Mark Richt at the end of the 2015 season. Eason took an official visit to Florida last weekend and has serious interest in the Gators. Washington had an in-home visit with Eason last week, according to Rivals.
Richt has since been hired by the Miami Hurricanes but despite some early speculation it does not appear that a reconciliation with Eason is in the cards.
One snag might be the depth chart. Washington started a true freshman, Jake Browning, at quarterback this season. Browning threw for 2,671 yards and 16 touchdowns.
