Tennessee senior linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin turned down an opportunity to leave school early and head to the NFL last offseason to help bring the Vols to Atlanta by season’s end. Unfortunately, it appears Reeves-Maybin’s contributions to that cause will have to come off the field, as the outside linebacker is reportedly set to have surgery on his shoulder and will be out for the remainder of the season.

Inside Tennessee reporter Danny Parker was the first to report the news of Reeves-Maybin’s status. According to Parker, Reeves-Maybin is not suffering from a torn labrum, as widely rumored, but is in fact having an issue with his left bicep.

Reeves-Maybin has made repeated attempts to play for the Vols after sustaining the injury against Ohio but played sparingly against Florida and did not play at all against Georgia. The senior missed the majority of both spring and fall camps due to injuries.

For his career, the senior racked up 240 tackles, 27 tackles-for-loss and eight sacks for Tennessee.
