According to a report from The Advocate, LSU has self-reported multiple secondary violations stemming from this past year. The Tigers’ sideline policy as it pertains to recruits visiting games has also been altered.

One unnamed LSU football player received a car ride from an agent earlier this season. The athlete had to repay the value of the ride to a charity of his choosing — in addition to addressing his teammates by making a presentation on agent interactions.

Recruits and their families are able to stand on the sidelines when visiting the school on game days. They watch pregame warmups, and get considerable use out of Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook. During one contest this season, a prospect was seen shaking hands with a former LSU player, and another recruit took a picture with a local music artist before one of the contests.

The artist in question may have been Lil Wayne — who had been a guest on ESPN’s College GameDay prior to LSU’s matchup with Alabama.

Due to these violations (albeit minor ones), LSU has created a restricted area for recruits and their families to stand in. This was first introduced during the Nov. 19 game versus Florida.

While none of these violations will hurt the school in any way, LSU uses them as a means to educate both its coaches and players. These preventative measures are done with the idea to not commit more egregious offenses.
