Report: LSU could hire away veteran SEC East OC to replace Matt Canada

Published:
Reports have surfaced in the past few days that LSU offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s departure from the school is all but inevitable.
Head coach Ed Orgeron said on Thursday that Canada would still be calling plays in the Tigers’ upcoming Citrus Bowl bout against Notre Dame. That game will kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Monday and will be televised on ABC.
However, a report from The Advocate cited multiple sources that said LSU planned to part ways with Canada after the bowl game. That’s consistent with another recent report from The Daily Advertiser that said Canada is on the way out.
While Steve Ensminger — LSU’s current tight ends coach — is rumored to be Canada’s replacement, another name surfaced on Friday.
It is possible that Kentucky offensive coordinator Eddie Gran, who worked with Orgeron at Tennessee under Lane Kiffin, could be up for the job:

Gran is a 28-year college coaching veteran, according to his UK bio.
He served as Florida State’s offensive coordinator from 2010 through 2012 and Cincinnati’s offensive coordinator from 2013 through 2015 before going to Kentucky, a report from The Daily Advertiser pointed out.
Gran is apparently known as a strong recruiter in Florida, as well.
He is currently making $825,000 a year, the report noted.
