Tennessee fans waiting with bated breath on the Mike Gundy decision should reach for some patience, according to a report from Brett McMurphy.

While Gundy reportedly met with Tennessee officials in Dallas, McMurphy reported that a decision is not expected today. Gundy, though, has told Oklahoma State officials about the meeting with Tennessee, as required by his contract.

Tennessee is looking to land Gundy after its pursuit of Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano fell apart following unprecedented fan backlash. Among the ways Tennessee is looking to land Gundy is with a hefty contract, at $8.4 million per year, and a conversation with Tennessee legend Peyton Manning.

Gundy has been in the mix for other jobs before, including Baylor last season. He was also offered the Tennessee job in 2012, but turned it down, which led the Vols to hire Butch Jones, who was recently fired.

Gundy and the Cowboys are 9-3 this season, and he’s led the program for 13 years to a 113-53 record.

The Cowboys are ranked No. 19 in the current College Football Playoff rankings, and last year finished No. 11, including an Alamo Bowl win over Colorado.
