Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy’s salary has reportedly increased from $4.2 million to $5 million for 2018, according to a report from OSU Sports Extra.

The Oklahoma State/A&M Board of Regents reportedly approved an addendum to Gundy’s contract on Friday, increasing his salary.

Why is this Big 12 coach’s salary important to SEC fans? Well, it may not be. But it will certainly get a chuckle out of Tennessee fans who have watched the insane coaching search in Knoxville.

The Volunteers have been beaten, battered, abused and taken advantage of over the past week or so in terms of their search for a new head coach.

The search has been a national embarrassment, as multiple coaches have turned down the Vols job and/or used it to get more money out of their respective schools.

Gundy and NC State’s Dave Doeren come to mind.

UT pursued Gundy on Tuesday, and even met with him in Dallas. Still, it seems that, perhaps, Gundy was just looking for the raise he received on Friday.

Tennessee may have corrected its course on Friday when it got rid of athletic director John Currie and hired former head coach Phillip Fulmer to the same position.
