Report: After months delay, No. 1 JUCO DB finally enrolled at South Carolina
It may have taken longer than Will Muschamp and company would have liked, but Jamarcus King has finally arrived in Columbia.
King, the top defensive back signed by South Carolina in their 2016 recruiting class, was initially expected to arrive to Columbia in January but failed to meet the academic requirements to begin school for the start of spring semester. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound King was rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 1 junior college cornerback in the nation by 247Sports Composite Ratings for 2016.
South Carolina’s sports information center confirmed King’s enrollment, according to The Big Spur.
After ranking last in the SEC in both total defense and scoring defense in 2015, South Carolina will look to make a massive overhaul of its defense in their first season under Muschamp and first-time defensive coordinator and defensive back’s coach Travaris Robinson. Adding a player of King’s talent should help in that regard immediately.
King played receiver in high school, as seen here in this highlight reel, but the video should give you an indication of his level of athleticism and speed that have the Gamecock coaches thinking he will excel for their in the secondary:
