Florida’s search for a new athletics director is becoming quite the story Tuesday.
Hours after a report that Kansas State AD John Currie would visit UF campus, another report states that Mississippi State AD Scott Stricklin is the school’s top target.

I’m not confirming the accuracy of this, but I will say this has been relayed to me over the last week by very smart people. https://t.co/wnIXDNJRGD

Wolken’s commentary on FootballScoop’s report is noteworthy, as the USA Today writer recently reported that outgoing AD Jeremy Foley’s plans to take on an emeritus role led to Arizona AD Greg Byrne and North Carolina AD Bubba Cunningham turning down the job.
Stricklin was honored with the 2015-16 Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year Award by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics in March.
In June, Foley announced plans to step down on Oct. 1. In a radio interview last month, he stated that he would be open to staying on past the self-set departure date.
