Report: Ole Miss DC reveals whether or not Robert Nkemdiche will play Saturday
Ole Miss star Robert Nkemdiche has reportedly passed all of the school’s concussion tests, and will play on Saturday, according to this story.
Nkemdiche, a defensive tackle who could be one of the top picks in next April’s NFL Draft, suffered a concussion while carrying the ball in the second quarter of the Rebels’ 37-24 loss to Memphis last Saturday. He sat out the rest of the game.
This week, Nkemdiche has been gone through Ole Miss’ concussion protocol, which includes several tests to determine if it is safe for him to play on Saturday.
Richard Cross, the sideline reporter for the Ole Miss IMG Sports Network, claims that Ole Miss defensive coordinator Dave Wommack told him that Nkemdiche had passed all of his tests, and had been cleared to play Saturday.
Nkemdiche was not the only Rebels player to go through the concussion protocol this week. Safety Trae Elston, who also suffered a concussion against Memphis, was cleared to play Wednesday, according to several reports. Punter Will Gleeson and backup linebacker Tayler Polk are also going through concussion protocol this week, but their status for Saturday’s game has not been revealed.
The 24th-ranked Rebels (5-2) host No. 15 Texas A&M (5-1) at 7 p.m. Eastern time. The game will be shown on ESPN.
