The NCAA is set to officially announce the penalties for Ole Miss in a case involving improper recruiting and other violations.

According to early reports, the Rebels received a two-year bowl ban, scholarship reductions and financial penalties for their infractions.

According to the SB Nation report, the penalties include a 13-scholarship reduction, major fines and a four-year probation. Every coach named in the report will also receive a show-cause penalty, as well.

It’s important to note that the two-year bowl ban includes 2017, which Ole Miss banned itself from postseason play anyway.

Therefore, the Rebels will be eligible for a bowl following the 2019 season, which is good news for new coach Matt Luke and the team’s recruiting abilities.

Luke wasn’t mentioned in the report, so he won’t be penalized.
