The Seahawks signed Smith to a one-year deal worth $1.127 million on April 15. This came 4 days before a warrant was issued for Smith for second-degree battery.
Smith has had a long history of legal issues while playing in the NFL. Smith previously played for the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys.
Smith was a first-round selection of the 49ers in the 2011 NFL Draft. He was selected for his first Pro Bowl in 2012.
The Seahawks were a team that needed a significant pass rush this season.
