Report: South Carolina to be without key DE D.J. Wonnum vs. Georgia
By Adam Spencer
Published:
Last week, South Carolina DE D.J. Wonnum left the game with an injury, but it wasn’t known if he’d be able to play in Week 2.
Now, it appears the Gamecocks will be without one of their most important players against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.
According to a report from ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, Wonnum will not suit up vs. the Bulldogs:
South Carolina DE D.J. Wonnum, who led team w/13 tackles for loss & 6 sacks last year, isn't expected to play today vs. Georgia because of a sprained ankle, @Mark_Schlabach reports

That’s tough news for the Gamecocks, as Wonnum is one of their best pass rushers, and affects the running game too.
That will hamper the Gamecocks’ chances of pulling off the upset, but with the SEC East title potentially on the line, the rest of the defense will have to step up. Watch the game at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time on CBS.
