Following Sunday’s Greg Schiano fiasco, it’s going to take a lot for Tennessee fans to get over the mess and once again embrace AD John Currie. However, landing a big name coach would be a good start to smoothing things over. Enter Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy and his beautiful mullet.
According to WNML’s Jimmy Hyams, Tennessee is now focusing its search on Gundy. There have been rumors that Currie was spotted in Dallas recently, something Hyams alludes to in his tweet below, which would make sense if Gundy truly was a candidate.

With Duke's David Cutcliffe and Iowa State's Matt Campbell out of the picture, Tennessee has turned its coaching search focus to Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy. Three sources told me UT has interviewed Gundy, perhaps in Dallas. UT offered Gundy in 2012 but he said declined.

Gundy has been the coach at his alma mater for 13 seasons, racking up a 113-53 record. He’s helped Oklahoma State reach 11 consecutive bowl games, which will be extended to 12 next weekend when the next round of bowl games are announced. Gundy’s 2010 team nearly reached the national championship that season but were upset by Iowa State in the regular season finale, sending Alabama into a rematch against LSU in the BCS title game that season.
Also of note for Tennessee fans, Gundy comes from the coaching tree of legendary Tennessee coach Johnny Majors.
