Tennessee junior QB Quinten Dormady started the season as the Volunteers’ starting quarterback, but coming off of the bye a couple of weeks ago, he lost the job to redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano.

Though Dormady played a couple of snaps when Guarantano’s helmet popped off against South Carolina last weekend, it was Guarantano’s show in the 15-9 loss.

Now, Dormady may be looking at missing some extended time, as reporter John Brice has said Dormady is dealing with an injured shoulder that may require surgery:

According to Brice, the surgery could end Dormady’s season, requiring a lengthy rehab process.

Neither quarterback has done much for the Vols’ offense this year, as Tennessee hasn’t scored a touchdown in the last 10 quarters.

That will be tough for Guarantano to change this weekend, as the Vols head to Tuscaloosa to take on No. 1 Alabama. The game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. Central time and can be seen on CBS.
