Although Charlie Strong is still the head coach of the Texas Longhorns, his job security appears as strong as a wet paper bag.

Many have speculated as to what Texas will do after the season ends. Right now, the Longhorns sit at 3-3. Strong’s defense has given up at least 40 points in four of the six game thus far on the year.

Dan Wolken of USA TODAY came out with a piece on Thursday, and had some rather interesting news on the (potential) Texas coaching search:

If Ed Orgeron isn’t elevated to the permanent head coach at LSU, Hugh Freeze, Fedora, and FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher may be possibilities, according to Wolken.

Jim McElwain has done a fantastic job of turing Florida around — making the Gators the probable favorite in the SEC East. Freeze has proven to be a fantastic recruiter during his time in Oxford. With an even greater talent base to pull from, he theoretically could be supremely dynamic in Austin.

With coaching rumors swirling on a near daily basis, this won’t be the last we hear about the involvement of this job as it pertains to these SEC head coaches.
