On Saturday, news broke that UCF coach Scott Frost was leaving the Knights to return to his alma mater, Nebraska.

Now, UCF needs to find a new head coach, and it may look to a former SEC mainstay to fill the open position.

According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg and Andrea Adelson, the Knights are targeting former Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin to be the team’s next head coach:

That seems like a good fit for Sumlin, who would take over a team that is currently 12-0 only two years after going 0-12. And, according to the report, a contract could be announced as soon as Sunday.

Sumlin has also been connected to the Florida State and Tennessee openings, albeit loosely, so if he has a sure thing in UCF, he’d be smart to take it and continue to build the momentum Frost built with the Knights.
