Winners of their last two contests (including over rival Tennessee), Derek Mason and the Vanderbilt Commodores were awarded with a bowl bid.
It has been reported that Vanderbilt will take on North Carolina State in the Independence Bowl:

The Wolfpack finished with an identical record (6-6) — and are also coming off of a big win versus an in-state opponent in North Carolina.
The contest will be played on Dec. 26 at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La. The tentative start-time for the game is 5 p.m. ET.
