Report: Warrant issued for Alabama DB Deionte Thompson in connection to felony assault
This is not the type of offseason news any football coach wants to hear. According to a report out of Texas, Alabama defensive back Deionte Thompson is being sought in connection with the beating of a man last month in Orange County.
According to Scott Eslinger of 12 News Now, a warrant for felony aggravated assault has been issued for four men, among them is Thompson. The incident, described as a “severe beating” by Eslinger, occurred March 18, 2017. Alabama students were on spring break during this time.
There may be more than meets the eye with this story, judging by a tweet sent out by Thompson’s father:
I understand that journalists have a job to do. Just wait until you hear the truth. Trust me, the key word in the case is ALABAMA

Thompson played in 14 games last season, mostly on special teams, after redshirting in 2015. He was an Under Armour All-American and ranked as the No. 2 safety prospect in the nation coming out of high school in 2015.
