Return to form: Nick Fitzgerald ties 20-year SEC record in second game back from injury
Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald scored a 26-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter against Louisiana Lafayette.
That touchdown not only extended the Bulldogs’ lead over the Ragin’ Cajuns to 42-3, it also put Fitzgerald in some good company as one of the three SEC players in the last 20 seasons with multiple games of 4 rushing touchdowns.
Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald has his 2nd career game with 4 rushing TD.
He joins Peyton Barber and Tre Mason as the only SEC players in the last 20 seasons with multiple games of 4 rushing TD.

The other two players in that conversation are former Auburn running backs Tre Mason and Peyton Barber.
Saturday’s game is the second time Fitzgerald ran for 4 touchdowns in his college career, the first time he accomplished that feat was as a sophomore in 2016. Fitzgerald had 4 rushing touchdowns in a 58-42 loss to Arkansas at home.
