Revenge game: Florida DT Kyree Campbell says Gators haven’t forgotten taunting by LSU fans

Part of the fun of being the defending national champion is getting everyone’s best shot the next time around. LSU went 15-0 last season, including 8 SEC wins over the 6 other SEC West teams, permanent cross-division rival Florida, SEC East rotational opponent Vanderbilt and SEC Championship opponent Georgia.

LSU has already faced 6 “revenge games” in 2020 (8 if you count non-annual opponents South Carolina and Missouri). The Tigers can expect another revenge-minded opponent when they come to Gainesville on Saturday.

Opposing fan bases enjoy mocking “the chomp” when facing Florida. LSU fans had a lot of taunting Florida with mock chomps a year ago in Baton Rouge.

Gators defensive tackle Kyree Campbell retweeted a video from 2019 of LSU fans chomping and chanting “it sucks to be a Florida Gator.” The senior defensive lineman added, “Lol we haven’t forgotten” in his Sunday quote-tweet.

After missing Florida’s first three games, Campbell has recorded 23 tackles, including 2.5 TFL and 1.5 sacks, in Florida’s last six games.
