For the first time since 2008, Georgia may be bring back its alternate black jerseys on gameday this season.
It’s a safe bet the Bulldogs will thrash Charleston Southern no matter what uniforms are worn on Saturday, leading Mark Richt to hint at a possible uniform change during his weekly radio show Monday night.

A season-ending showdown Nov. 29 in Athens against Georgia Tech would be a less likely stage for the black with red and white trim jerseys.
“I think once a year to wear the black jerseys would be great, especially since we’re the red and black,” Richt said. “I think a home game in black would be awesome. I think it would need to be more this time of the year, because if you wear black in a September game and it happens to be 100 degrees and super humid, I don’t think that would be a wise thing to do.”
Fans have clamored for a return to the menacing look for several years after the alternates were all but banned following a 41-30 loss to Alabama between the hedges in 2008. Sanford Stadium had its own black-out during last weekend’s win over Auburn, but Richt wasn’t into a uniform switch for an SEC game.
Richt’s comments Monday marked the first time this season he’s spoken fondly of Georgia’s black jerseys.
On Tuesday, he went back on his thoughts:
"Maybe next year," Richt says of blackout rumors. "We are the red and black. To have a black jersey is not that radical." #CHSOvsUGA
