Rick Neuheisel of CBS Sports believes that this upcoming SEC Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia is just another installment of a classic rivalry bout between two titans.
“As much as we have enjoyed the topsy-turvy nature of the SEC this season, the stars have aligned and it will Alabama vs. Georgia,” Neuheisel said. “It kinda feels to me that we are getting a nostalgic prize fight.”
Neuheisel compared it to the legendary Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier or Evander Holyfield vs. Mike Tyson rivalries from boxing’s past.
“This is going to be a great game, and both of these coaches have done unbelievable jobs,” Neuheisel said. “Their teams have been vulnerable, but they are rounding into form exactly as we thought.”
The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide are set to play each other on Dec. 3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with (likely) a spot in the College Football Playoff on the line. Alabama still has games against Chattanooga and Auburn to go, while Georgia takes on Tennessee and Georgia Tech.
“It’s like Ali and Frazier. It’s like Holyfield and Tyson.”
