Former Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot as the victim of an armed robbery attempt that occurred over the weekend. The 17-year-old suspect from Tracy, California, has since been arrested after attempting to steal Pearsall’s Rolex watch.

Pearsall was heading to a signing event when it occurred.

His mother, Erin Pearsall, provided an update on the status and the condition of the former Gators wideout on Sunday. She said that Pearsall was shot in the chest and that it exited out of his back, missing his vital organs. She also indicated that Pearsall was in good spirits.

“He was shot in the chest and it exited out his back,” Erin wrote in a social media post. “Thanks be to GOD it missed his vital organs. He is in good spirits right now.”

Pearsall was originally selected as a first-round draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 NFL Draft. He spent 3 seasons at Arizona State prior to transferring to Florida, seeing action for the Gators in 25 contests for the Gators over the course of 2 seasons.

He was a major factor within the Florida offense, leading the Gators in receptions and yards as a fifth-year senior in 2023. Social media has continued to extend its condolences to Pearsall and his family as he looks to be stable and making a full recovery.
