Riding the carousel: FBS hires (and openings) this go-round

There are 128 head coaching jobs in the Football Bowl Subdivision, and at least 23 of those jobs will turn over before the 2016 season begins.

Right now, because with five of those dominoes yet to fall, more jobs might open up as a result.

With Bronco Mendenhall’s surprise jump to Virginia (kudos to Virginia for keeping that under wraps, by the way), BYU is in need of a new coach.

Ditto East Carolina, which fired popular coach Ruffin McNeill after a 5-7 season.

Bowling Green is seeking a replacement for Dino Babers, who will try his hand at resurrecting Syracuse. And Louisiana-Monroe and Tulane are in the market for coaches after firing Todd Berry and Curtis Johnson, respectively.

With those five jobs still open, here are the FBS coaching changes, as of Dec. 9:
