Robert Griffin III says Bijan Robinson should ask for millions in NIL money to return to Texas
Robert Griffin III thinks Texas star RB Bijan Robinson should ask for a substantial NIL package to stay with the Longhorns instead of entering the NFL Draft.
Griffin discussed Robinson’s future after Texas’ win over Baylor to end the regular season on Friday. The ESPN analyst, a former Heisman-winning QB at Baylor, said that NIL has changed the game, and Robinson should ask for big money to stay in Austin.
“Pre-NIL, Bijan should leave. As a running back, you don’t want to keep getting all that pounding on your body before you go to the NFL. But, with NIL in place, if I’m Bijan, I’m saying, ‘Texas make me an offer so I have to come back. Give me $6-7 million in NIL money and NIL opportunities, so I don’t have to go pro and these fans can get another year of Bijan Robinson.’ Because he’s worth it.”
Robinson is widely considered a first-round NFL Draft pick in 2023 and has been a workhorse for Texas this season. Headed into the final matchup with Baylor on Friday, the RB had amassed 1,401 rushing yards on 229 carries, and 16 touchdowns already this season. Robinson has 29 carries for 179 yards and 2 TDs in Friday’s 38-27 Longhorn win.
