Notre Dame fans may be longing for the days of Rudy Ruettiger this weekend following the dismissal of several key players due to academic fraud.
ESPN is giving Irish fans a bit of nostalgia with a “Rudy” parody promoting the College Football Playoff. In the commercial, Rudy speaks to his Notre Dame teammates in the locker room in 1974, telling a bunch of mystified players, “We need a playoff!”
After getting the entire team (and one Catholic priest) fired up about the concept (“Deciding who’s going to win the national championship ON! THE! FIELD!), Rudy gives the big reveal. Spoiler alert: His teammates are pretty upset when they figure out how long it’s going to take to implement a playoff.
