Report: Georgia compliance office looking into claims made by Rush Propst

When you’re a successful college football program, there are always those critics that claim you’re paying players.

Over the weekend, audio clips leaked of conversations between former “Two-A-Days” coach Rush Propst (who is facing issues of his own at Valdosta High School) and Michael “Nub” Nelson, the former director of the Valdosta Touchdown Club.

In the clips, Propst claims Georgia and Alabama often pay recruits between $90,000 and $100,000 to sign with them.

Georgia is at least aware of the claims, and per a report from AJC.com, Nelson says the compliance office is looking into Propst’s claims:

“They called and asked a bunch of questions,” Nelson said Monday. “They asked me not to discuss it, so I don’t want to say too much.”

Nelson, who claims the recordings were made back in May of 2020, said he doesn’t think either Alabama or Georgia will face any NCAA violations from Propst’s comments:

“I don’t think they’re in trouble because of who said this,” said Nelson, referring to Propst. “That man’s credibility is zero and they’ll put this out in no time. I’d be surprised if the NCAA spends more than a minute on it.”
