By now, you’ve probably heard about Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh’s decision to take his football team to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. during spring break to practice in ideal weather conditions. Naturally, this created quite the stir within the SEC, as most coaches and athletic department leadership voiced their displeasure on the move.
On Friday morning, Alabama coach Nick Saban joined The Dan Patrick Show and was asked for his thoughts on the Wolverines’ presence down south.
“I don’t think that when people design the rules, they design to rules to take your team somewhere else and have spring practice during spring break,” he said.
He was then asked by Patrick, “Why don’t you just bring the team up to Ann Arbor or Columbus for a three-day weekend?”
“First of all most of our team would be shocked by the weather, so that’s not something that they would really [want],” said Saban. “But those are all nice places, I’ve spent a lot of time in the Big Ten. I coached Ohio State, Michigan State and they’re a lot of good people there and we have a lot of good relationships there. But I’m not sure it’s something our players would look forward to and I don’t really know what the benefit of that would be.”
Harbaugh has not been shy about voicing his opinion or responding to criticism, so be on the lookout for a viral tweet from the Michigan man here in the next 24 hours.
