Sad fans are sad, Week 4: Hog heaven? Hardly

Tennessee was blown out at Florida, and Ole Miss lost at home to Cal, a Pac-12 team, on Saturday.

But at least those losses were to ranked teams.

Arkansas lost to a rank team.

It’s one thing for a bad SEC team to be defeated by a good Mountain West program such as Boise State. It’s painful, but totally understandable.

San Jose State is not a good Mountain West program. It is by any measure, for any conference, an awful football program. Coming into Saturday, the Spartans had lost 25 straight games against Power 5 opponents. SJSU has not had a winning season since going 11-2 in 2012 and was 23-53 since.

Until Saturday, when the Spartans strolled into Reynolds Razorback Stadium, led pretty much all the way and defeated Arkansas 31-24.

This is sad even by recent Razorbacks standards, and we have the tweets to prove it:

It never looked good for the Hogs:

An attempt to be philosophical and to treasure the good things that Arkansas has in its athletics program:

Remember that shirtless, book-reading Florida State fan who went viral last year? One Arkansas fan probably did:

Meanwhile, Texas A&M felt the sting after losing at home to Auburn (but again, at least the Aggies lost to a good, high-ranking team):

The Surrender Cobra makes an appearance:

And Notre Dame put on a really strong effort in losing at Georgia, which is perhaps why this fan looks more pensive than sad:

That Razorbacks loss was so awful, we are mostly leaving Tennessee alone this week. Mostly:

OK, partly:

Ole Miss fans were none too happy about a controversial finish, which led to both Rebels and Cal Bears fans getting a bit salty on social media:

While some others focused on the number of empty seats at some places:

And Cal stays undefeated for another week, which makes it … a College Football Playoff contender??? Let’s pump the brakes on that, but then again, the Pac-12 is pretty desperate:

Finally, UCF saw its regular-season winning streak end at 28 at Pittsburgh, triggering a #SurrenderCobra:

Hey, UCF, it could be worse. You didn’t lose to San Jose State.
