Arkansas is losing a big piece of its secondary.

Less than 2 weeks after being named a starter for the Ole Miss game, Arkansas cornerback Jerry Jacobs is opting out of the remainder of the 2020 season.

Razorbacks coach Sam Pittman made the announcement on Monday.

Earlier Monday morning, Jacobs tweeted this:

Jacobs has played in all 4 games so far this season, totaling 17 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. He joined the Razorbacks this season after spending the previous 2 years at Arkansas State.

He’s been a key part of Arkansas’ defense performing better-than-expected so far. The Razorbacks are currently No. 5 in the SEC in passing yards allowed per game at 241.5.

Arkansas is back in action on Saturday at Texas A&M at 7:30 p.m. ET.
