Year 2 of the Sam Pittman era gets underway Saturday, as the Razorbacks open 2021 with a home game against Rice.

On Wednesday, Pittman met with media members on the SEC coaches weekly teleconference, where he discussed what he thought were the keys to having success against the Owls.

“We have to build our confidence in our throwing game. … We have to convert our short yardage situations. … (Rice is) very talented on their defensive line,” Pittman said.

“Defensively, we have to get off the field. We have to win first down on defense. We did not do that well last year.”

Arkansas, which finished 3-7 a year ago, is currently a 19.5-point favorite against Rice. The game will kick off at 2 p.m. EST and be available on ESPN+ and SEC Network+.
