Saturday SEC recruiting roundup: The final race before National Signing Day

Published:
We’re just days away from National Signing Day, and with today being the final Saturday for official visits, some schools made big moves while others floundered.
So here’s the latest as we inch closer to February 3:
Commitments
- The Razorbacks got big news today with commitments from LB Dee Walker, S Micahh Smith and OT Paul Ramirez.
- Arkansas also got its first 2017 commit this week: LB Derrick Munson.
- The Gamecocks lost yet another commit this week. But they did get a commitment from DE/TE Evan Hinson, who is a two-sport star.

- Georgia also lost a commit this week when WR Randrecous Davis visited Miami. Hurricanes head coach Mark Richt recruited him when he was at Georgia, so he is expected to follow him to Coral Gables.
- Mizzou landed some huge commitments in OL Trystan Castillo and WR Dominic Collins this week.
- Mark Stoops had a fruitful trip to Ohio that resulted in a commitment from RB Zach Johnson.

- The Wildcats also picked up a commitment from DE TJ Carter.
- After some he-said, they-said rumors and a couple of presumed flip flops, it looks like four-star DE Raekwon Davis has committed to Alabama. But if recruiting season has taught us anything, it’s that we won’t know for sure about Davis until National Signing Day.
- Georgia converted P Marshall Long on Thursday. Long was previously committed to Virginia Tech.
- Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn and the rest of his staff are lobbying for a freeze on DT Tashawn Manning’s eligibility clock. Manning committed to Tigers in June, but he was diagnosed with leukemia on Thanksgiving Day, and his doctors expect he will need at least two years to recover from chemotherapy treatments.
Visits
- Gators head coach Jim McElwain sought to impress visiting recruits when he fired up the Florida crowd at a basketball game today.
- Five-star DE Terrell Hall is taking his official visit to Ole Miss this weekend, but it didn’t stop Alabama coaches from getting in some face time before he left.

- Five-star WR Demetris Robertson is visiting Alabama tomorrow after rescheduling the past two weekends.
- WR Tyler Simmons is committed to the Crimson Tide, but he was visited by Georgia head coach Kirby Smart this week anyway. And there’s a video to prove it.
- Five-star DT Rashan Gary, who is the top overall recruit for 2016, announced he will be visiting Clemson this weekend instead of Alabama.
- Five-star LB Lyndell “Mack” Wilson is visiting the Gators this weekend. Earlier this week, Wilson said Florida, Alabama and Georgia are his top three choices.
- Four-star DE Raekwon Davis announced his commitment (again) to Alabama on Wednesday, but he’s still taking an official visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend.
