With another weekend of college football in the books, the SEC league office has officially named its Week 12 SEC Players of the Week:
Offensive Player of the Week – Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia
- Chubb put up his best game of the season on Senior Day in Athens with 151 yards and 2 TDs on 15 carries.
- His work included a 55-yard touchdown to cap off an incredible home career with the Bulldogs.
- The win over Kentucky gave Georgia an undefeated season against SEC East opponents, the first time since the divisional split in 1992 that the Bulldogs have done so.
- Became just the second player in Georgia history to rush for 1,000 yards in three different seasons. Herschel Walker was the other.
Defensive Player of the Week – Derrick Tucker, S, Texas A&M
- True freshman led the Aggies defense with 14 tackles and one tackle for loss.
- Forced a fumble, broke up two passes, and returned an interception 19 yards for a touchdown in A&M’s 31-24 win over Ole Miss.
Special Teams Player of the Week – Zach Von Rosenberg, P, LSU
- Punted five times for a career-best 49.2 yards per punt.
- Two of his punts led to fumbles by Tennessee with the Tigers recovering each.
- Notched a career-long punt of 60 yards that was downed inside the 10-yard line with three of his five punts being downed inside the 20-yard line.
Freshman of the Week – Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri
- Recorded two more receiving touchdowns in the win that allowed Missouri to become bowl eligible.
- Finished with career-high marks in catches (5) and receiving yards (116) with the first 100-yard receiving game of his career.
- His second touchdown of the day went for 57 yards.
- Four of his catches resulted in first downs.
Offensive Lineman of the Week – JC Hassenauer, OL, Alabama
- Recorded his first career start and was named Offensive Player of the Week by Alabama’s coaching staff for his work at left guard and center.
- Graded out at 91% in the win over Mercer.
- Did not allow a sack or hurry and was not penalized.
- Paved the way for an offensive attack that rushed for 265 yards and threw for six touchdowns.
Defensive Lineman of the Week – Montez Sweat, DL, Mississippi State
- Recorded a career-high 2.5 sacks in the Bulldogs win over Arkansas.
- Added four tackles.
- His sacks were the most by an MSU player in a game since 2010.
- His nine sacks on the season are tied for ninth in a season at MSU.
