Well, the last two games of the weekend were certainly interesting. A little too interesting for Tennessee and Texas A&M fans.
Still, the SEC got off to a strong start in general. Alabama looked like the same old Alabama, and there is no reason to think that the Crimson Tide will not be the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff.
LSU played decent opposition in BYU and dominated, so there is one set of Tigers projected for a New Year’s Day 6 game just like last week. The other SEC Tigers projected there hail from Auburn. Week 1 didn’t tell much about Auburn but Saturday’s showdown at Clemson sure will.
Texas A&M’s stays in the projections for now after its crushing opening loss. Two easier non-conference games at home, against Nicholls State and Louisiana-Lafayette, should set the Aggies back on the right path before their SEC opener against Arkansas.
And yes, Missouri stays in after coughing up 43 points to FCS foe Missouri State. Hey, cupcake or not, Drew Lock’s seven touchdown passes still go in the SEC record book.
