Texas A&M looked about as good in a loss as Aggies fans could want on Saturday.
Coach Jimbo Fisher’s team went toe to toe with a terrific Clemson bunch at Kyle Field and was a 2-point conversion away from perhaps forcing overtime.
It might be overly optimistic to project the Aggies into the Citrus Bowl at this point, but we will see what the SEC schedule brings.
Kentucky flipped the script on Florida, ending a 31-game losing streak against the Gators and winning in Gainesville for the first time since 1979. As a result, the Wildcats move up in the projected SEC bowl pecking order, and Florida moves down. South Carolina moves down a bit, but the Gamecocks could still be the second-best team in the SEC East even after losing to Georgia. After all, this list is a projection of where teams will end up when the regular season concludes, not where they are now.
Nothing has changed at the top, where Alabama, Georgia and Auburn have given us no reason to doubt that they will be jockeying for College Football Playoff and New Year’s Day 6 bowl bids all season. And after Penn State went on the road and walloped old rival Pittsburgh, I feel (slightly) less queasy about picking the Nittany Lions to wind up in the CFP.
So, on to the projections:
