SEC Bowl projections after Week 5

This was a pretty quiet week in the SEC, with only eight conference teams in action.

So with six teams off and no real upsets, there was no movement in the SEC bowl projections this week.

You might note that a few opponents have changed because of upsets elsewhere. The Big Ten finally got underway, and things did not exactly go as expected, with No. 8 Penn State taking a shocking defeat at Indiana and Rutgers, which had not won a conference game since 2017, taking down Michigan State on the road.

As always, these projections are based on where we think teams will be at the end of the season, not where they are now.

Now let’s look at this week’s projections:

Bowl Date Location Matchup
Rose (CFP semi) Jan. 1 Pasadena, Calif. Alabama vs. Ohio State
Sugar (CFP semi) Jan. 1 New Orleans Georgia vs. Clemson
Cotton Jan. 2 Arlington Florida vs. Oklahoma St.
Citrus Jan. 1 Orlando Texas A&M vs. Penn State
Gator TBA Jacksonville, Fla. Kentucky vs. Wake Forest
Outback Jan. 1 Tampa, Fla. LSU vs. Indiana
Liberty TBA Memphis, Tenn. S. Carolina vs. Iowa St.
Music City TBA Nashville Tennessee vs. Minnesota
Texas TBA Houston Auburn vs. Texas
Las Vegas TBA Las Vegas Missouri vs. Utah
Birmingham TBA Birmingham Arkansas vs. Tulane
