Every year, bowl season comes around at the end of each season and for most teams, it’s a way for them to end the year on the right foot. They can propel teams into the off-season and help with recruiting.

Earlier today, the ACC pulled its championship game from the state of North Carolina due to legal protection for the LGBT community. For the Southeastern Conference, the Belk Bowl is a bowl game in which the conference participates in every year against an ACC team.

The game, however, is played in the state of North Carolina. So, will the SEC follow suit? SEC commissioner Greg Sankey acknowledged that the conference has “a contractual relationship” with the Belk Bowl.

“The SEC has a contractual relationship with the Belk Bowl. The current circumstances merit further dialogue with our Conference membership.”
