Our good friends over at College Football Matrix have an incredible amount of data and information for every college football fan ahead of the 2014 season. They do a fantastic job.

As part of their data input, they have derived an SEC heat map, showing all the rostered players’ hometowns.

You can also see the other four power conference heat maps here.

The SEC’s hottest area is North Georgia, north of Atlanta. With the addition of Texas A&M and Missouri, it opened many more doors in the Houston area, as well as St. Louis and Kansas City. Central Florida, Tampa and Miami are also hotbeds, as well as Louisiana.

SEC teams don’t really branch into Big Ten country, nor does it head west of Central Texas. How much will that change in the future? The point is the conference doesn’t have to.
