Buckle up, y’all. It’s the week of the wide receiver here in the SEC.
We honor a total of 7 wide receivers from 6 different teams in this column today following a thrilling Week 5 slate of games.
Even with 5 SEC squads taking the week off, there was plenty of excitement around the conference.
Here are our SEC game balls for Week 5:
Alabama: Ryan Williams, WR
Jalen Milroe may have become the Heisman favorite on Saturday night vs. Georgia, but the receiver he went to early and often was Ryan Williams. (Have you heard he’s only 17 years old?)
Players his age aren’t supposed to be able to do things like this:

He’s ready for the NFL. But first, a Heisman Trophy might be in his future.
Arkansas: Isaac TeSlaa, WR
The Hogs got off to a hot start in Arlington against Texas A&M on Saturday. QB Taylen Green found WR Isaac TeSlaa on this impressive 75-yard touchdown:

That’s a big-time highlight on a day when Arkansas didn’t have a ton of highlights.
Auburn: Cam Coleman and KeAndre Lambert-Smith, WRs
QB Payton Thorne made too many mistakes for Auburn to win, but the WR tandem was solid all afternoon against a tough Sooners’ defense. Coleman made 3 catches for 82 yards, while Lambert-Smith had 5 grabs for 77 yards and a score. This might be the best receiver duo the Tigers have had in a long time.
Florida: OFF
Georgia: Malaki Starks, DB
The Alabama offense was dynamic on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, but Starks was able to hold his own for the most part. He finished with 8 tackles, 2 of which went for a loss. Dan Jackson snagged an interception for the Dawgs, but Starks had a slightly better day overall, in our opinion.
Kentucky: Dane Key, WR
Key was Brock Vandagriff’s go-to guy whenever Kentucky needed a big play. He made 8 catches for 101 yards and a crucial touchdown. The Wildcats would not have been able to pull off an incredible upset in Oxford without Key stepping up into a top receiver role.
LSU: Caden Durham, RB
The freshman running back continues to shine. He finished Saturday night’s win over South Alabama with an incredible 128 rushing yards (and a touchdown) on only 7 carries (an 18.3 yards-per-carry average). He also added 3 catches for 89 yards and another touchdown. The Tigers need to start giving this guy the ball more than 10 times a game.
Mississippi State: Nick Barr-Mira, P
The Mississippi State situation is so bleak I’m giving the game ball to the punter. He downed 1 of his 4 punts inside the 20. That’s not a great ratio, but he also wasn’t put in good positions to get the ball pinned deep. He averaged 48.5 yards per punt, which is… fine. Dark times for the Bulldogs.
Mizzou: OFF
Oklahoma: Kip Lewis, LB
It was looking like Oklahoma was going to suffer a disappointing loss at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday afternoon. But Kip Lewis wasn’t having it. We’re not sure what Payton Thorne was doing on this play, but credit to Lewis for being in a position to make a play:

And wow… look at those wheels he showcased while making sure he got all the way to pay dirt. A game-changing play for Lewis and the Sooners.
Ole Miss: Tre Harris, WR
Harris should be the strong favorite for the Biletnikoff Award at this point. Every time Jaxson Dart looked his way, Harris was up to the task. He’s an incredible athlete who makes big plays every time the ball finds itself in his hands. It was a bad day for the Rebels overall, but Harris continues to make his mark on the college game this year.
South Carolina: OFF
Tennessee: OFF
Texas: DeAndre Moore Jr., WR
Moore certainly made the most of the 4 catches he had on Saturday against Mississippi State. He finished with 103 yards on those 4 grabs and was on the receiving end of both of Arch Manning’s touchdown passes. There’s a lot of depth in this Texas receiving corps.
Texas A&M: Le’Veon Moss, RB
Moss ran angry on Saturday in Arlington, putting up 117 rushing yards, every single one of them important in the Aggies’ 21-17 win over Arkansas. He might not have found the end zone on Saturday, but his impact offensively was incredibly important for his team. A hard-fought win for a team that continues to win close games.
