SEC kickoff weather forecast: Bowl games

Normally, the beauty of bowl games is that they take place in warmer climates. But with such an abnormally hot December across much of the country, that hasn’t seemed to matter much.

Still, with three games in Florida and three games taking place inside roof-covered stadiums, the 10 SEC bowl teams should be playing in pretty bearable weather.

Auburn (Birmingham Bowl) and Mississippi State (Belk Bowl) face a strong likelihood of rain on Wednesday. That will be particularly interesting in the latter game, which features quarterbacks Dak Prescott and Jacoby Brissett, both of whom are capable runners if the football gets slippery.

Texas A&M likely will face the coldest kickoff temperature, something in the mid-40s in Nashville. Tennessee and Florida should enjoy kickoffs in Central Florida of near room temperature.

Those traveling to watch Alabama in the College Football Playoff will want to bring coats if there’s a long walk from the parking lot involved, as temperatures could plunge into the 30s by the time the game is over.

Here’s the complete bowl weather forecast in the SEC.
