As the 2024 college football season approaches its stretch run, more and more teams are shifting their focus on what the postseason may hold for them.
For weeks now, programs have been winning their sixth games and thus becoming bowl eligible. In this new age of conference realignment, it’s interesting to take a look at which leagues are sending the most teams bowling and which may be struggling.
To little surprise, the SEC leads all leagues with 9 teams having 6 or more wins, as Vanderbilt joined the party thanks to its 17-7 victory over Auburn on Saturday.
Here’s the full list of bowl-eligible teams thus far, courtesy of ESPN’s David Hale:

South Carolina, Arkansas and Oklahoma are each 1 win away from bowl eligibility. Florida needs 2 more wins to clinch a postseason berth. Only Mississippi State (2-7) has been mathematically eliminated from reaching bowl eligibility this season.
Elsewhere, the Big Ten ranks second with seven teams set for the postseason, as Minnesota and Iowa both secured bowl slots this weekend.
The remaining Power 4 leagues, the Big 12 and ACC, are right behind with 6 squads apiece. Texas Tech and Arizona State joined the fray for the Big 12 this weekend, while Syracuse and Louisville each pulled off signature wins that also pushed them to the 6 win mark.
The American notably leads all Group of Five leagues with 4 bowl eligible squads, with North Texas on the verge of making it five. The Mountain West does have the potential to overtake the AAC with both Fresno State and San Jose State sitting at 5 wins.
