Junior wide receiver Jalin Hyatt set a school record with 5 touchdown catches in Tennessee’s history-making victory over Alabama on Saturday in Knoxville. On Monday, he was properly rewarded by being named SEC Offensive Player of the Week.
Hyatt had 6 catches for 207 yards. He caught touchdown passes of 36, 11, 60, 78 and 13 yards to help the Volunteers outlast the Crimson Tide 52-49 for their first victory over Bama since 2006, the year before Nick Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa.

Meanwhile, Kentucky senior linebacker DeAndre Square and Arkansas junior defensive back Hudson Clark were named Co-Defensive Players of the Week. Square had 11 total tackles, 4 solo, in Kentucky’s 27-17 victory over Mississippi State. Clark matched Square with 11 total tackles, 4 solo, in the Razorbacks’ 52-35 win at BYU.
Tennessee kicker Chase McGrath was named Special Teams Player of the Week after booting a 40-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Vols to that thrilling victory over Bama. It was the only field goal McGrath made all day, but it was the only one he attempted and the only one the Vols needed to make history on Saturday and keep their dream season alive.
Ole Miss star running back Quinshon Judkins was named Freshman Player of the Week after he had 25 carries for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the undefeated Rebels to a 48-34 victory over Auburn.
Tennessee senior Darnell Wright and LSU freshman Will Campbell were named Co-Offensive Linemen of the Week after leading the Vols and Tigers, respectively, to big victories. Campbell helped the LSU offense pile up 528 total yards in a 45-35 victory at Florida.
Ole Miss junior defensive end Jared Ivey was named Defensive Lineman of the Week after his 4 tackles, 1 solo, and 1 sack helped lead the Rebels to the win over Auburn. He also had 1 forced fumble and 2 fumble recoveries.
