Discussing the best coaches in college football, SEC Network Studio Anchor Peter Burns made the case for Florida’s Dan Mullen being among the top-five.

Here’s what Burns had to say about Mullen on Twitter:

Burns would also go on to list his full top-five:

Featuring the same top-three – Alabama’s Nick Saban, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney and Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley – as nearly everyone else, Burns put Washington’s Chris Petersen at No. 4 and had Mullen tied with LSU’s Ed Orgeron at No. 5.

Getting his start in coaching as the wide receivers coach at Wagner (Staten Island, New York) in 1994, Mullen moved over to Columbia (New York, New York) in 1996. After spending the 1998 season as a graduate assistant at Syracuse, he was a GA for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

The quarterbacks coach under Urban Meyer at Bowling Green (2001-02) and Utah (2003-04), Mullen first joined the Florida program in 2005 as Meyer’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Having tremendous success with Chris Leak and Tim Tebow, he departed for the head coaching position in Starkville in 2009. Leading the Mississippi State program for nine seasons, Mullen was named SEC Coach of the Year in 2014.

In his second year as Florida’s head coach, the Gators are 6-0 and ranked No. 7 in America. Traveling to face the No. 5 LSU Tigers (5-0) on Saturday with ESPN’s College GameDay in attendance, Mullen’s team is in for their toughest test yet.

The action from Tiger Stadium will kick at 8:00PM ET and will be televised on ESPN.
