SEC Network host says South Carolina deserves CFP consideration if Gamecocks beat Clemson
Amidst all of the chaos from the SEC’s wild Week 13, South Carolina appears to be one of the main benefactors.
The Gamecocks, previously an afterthought for the College Football Playoff with its three conference losses, isarenow joined by five other schools in having a trio of league defeats.
And, given that its losses came to LSU, Alabama and Ole Miss, many are beginning to examine South Carolina’s résumé compared to other SEC programs. After all, Shane Beamer & Co. boast wins over Vanderbilt (road), Texas A&M (home) and Missouri (home), and their defeats to LSU and Alabama came by a combined margin of five points.
The SEC Network’s Peter Burns is a believer in this point, as he said that the Gamecocks deserve College Football Playoff consideration should they pick up a ranked road win over rivals Clemson this weekend.
If CFB Selection committee looks truly at every game & “injury” factor, then South Carolina ABSOLUTELY deserves a real look at the Playoff if they beat Clemson
Their loss to LSU was due to LaNorris Sellers injured in that game & several horrendous calls that cost them.

As Burns noted, Sellers missed much of the LSU game due to injury, and the Gamecocks offense looked far different with him out of the game.
The hypothetical plays out in that if Sellers was healthy for the full game, South Carolina would sit at 10-2 right now with a far better shot at being one of the 12 teams selected.
The Gamecocks take on the Tigers at noon ET on Saturday.
