SEC officials often take a lot of criticism on social media. Some of it is deserved, some of it isn’t.

On Saturday in College Station for a matchup between No. 9 Mizzou and No. 25 Texas A&M, it only took 1 drive for the SEC crew to start taking some of the deserved variety of online criticism.

On Mizzou’s first drive, there was a fairly clear pass interference against Missouri WR Theo Wease Jr. A flag was initially thrown by an official.

But after further discussion, the flag was picked up. Here’s the play, you can decide for yourself if it was a penalty or not:

On Mizzou’s second drive, a 75-yard TD pass to Luther Burden III was called back due to an offensive lineman being downfield.

Then, during a skirmish on the field, Texas A&M WR Moose Muhammad III shoved an official. No flag was thrown:

Fans and media members had plenty to say about the seemingly biased start to the game from SEC officials:

The Mizzou defense is having its worst showing of the year through 2 quarters, but it’s hard not to think that this could be a tighter game if even that first penalty that was picked up against Wease was upheld.

Catch the second half of Saturday’s game on ABC.
