The SEC has a nation-leading 9 teams ranked in the new D1Baseball Top 25.
Opening weekend went well in the conference, with ranked programs going a combined 23-4. Seven of the top 10 spots in the latest ranking belong to SEC clubs.
LSU (3-0) remained at No. 1 after a weekend sweep of Western Michigan. The Tigers picked up 10-0, 5-3, and 9-2 wins over the Broncos as the pitching staff of Paul Skenes, Riley Cooper, and Chase Shores led the way.
Despite dropping 2 of 3 at the MLB Desert Invitational, Tennessee remained inside the top 5 in D1Baseball’s ranking, sliding from No. 2 to No. 3. Elsewhere, Arkansas and Vanderbilt closed out the top 10 after both opened with 2-1 weekends. Arkansas moved down from No. 8 to No. 9 to make way for a TCU team that surged into the top 10.
Ole Miss (No. 4), Texas A&M (No. 5), and Florida (No. 7) all held in the same spots they opened in after 3-0 weekends for each.
The Tigers will face Southern on Tuesday and then hit the road for the first time this season when they head to the Round Rock Classic in Austin, where Kansas State, Sam Houston State, and Iowa await.
Tennessee hosts Alabama A&M on Tuesday and Wednesday and then Dayton for a weekend series.
