Every year, the SEC produces a plethora of quality players at every position. Many of them make watchlists for end-of-year awards at the beginning of the season, but only the most worthy make it all the way through as finalists.
Let’s take a look at some SEC players who could have been finalists, but were ultimately snubbed:
HEISMAN TROPHY
Leonard Fournette, LSU: The running back was the frontrunner for this award after seven weeks, but tailed off quickly after a poor showing vs. Alabama. LSU lost three games in a row and Fournette was all but forgotten. Still, his numbers were off the charts and he belongs in New York for the presentation.
DAVEY O’BRIEN AWARD (TOP QUARTERBACK)
Dak Prescott, Mississippi State: Prescott has had an exceptional three-year career for the Bulldogs and has won a ton of big games. He’s been a great leader, as well
